    1. Re: [REED] Re: NEW: Montana Reeds
    2. Hello, i'm also writing to the list regarding your mail..but you are the first i've heard of to mention a REED with the KUHN last name..My mother was born in 1925 and her sister 1923.. My mom said that she lived in Helena, Montana at one time but I found that she lived in Billings, Montana until 1941. My grandma passed away in Billings in 1941. My mother seemed to have many secrets but I've recently just found my mom's sister's daughter..Wasn't told my mom had a sister only a half brother. We've been sending each other pictures of our moms and they look exactly alike..The girls (my mom and hers) lost contact after 1941 or so.. Could you please, please send me a picture of your greatgrandma and your grandma and tell me your information...It wasn't until my mom passed away and I ordered her birth certificate that I found her maiden name to be Koons and not what she had told me....She just kept her life a secret..Her mom had several names but was buried with the name Agnes StJohn, Koons, but other records list her as Agnes E Koons, Agnes Reed, Agnes Gertrude Reed, E Reed, Helen Reed, Helen E Reed. My mom and her sister also changed their names too... mom's sister went by HELEN too at one time. Everything is a mystery...but I'll send you a picture of my mom and her sister. How did Kuhn come into the picture? Was anyone a teacher at a school in Helena? My mom once said (when I asked her where she went to school In Helena) she said a St....something ?? it sounded catholic and yet she said she was episcipalian(sic) but her mother was from England and grandpa, Howard C Koons (Kunes) Many spellings for the name was German supposedly..I never met him or grandma though..Once when mom said Helena, Montana - she said she went there to a private school (like a boarding school) and said she cried and cried and her mom picked her up..I don't know this to be true..She also said she went horse-back riding there and that there were 2 twin brothers of which one tried several times to hurt her. Once sailing, once riding, and then tried to get her into a plane and she wouldn't go. She also said that growing up, she and a girl named Susan McNabb were walking home from school and she went one way and susan another, and Susan was murdered. Don't know what state or even city this occurred. One more thing..the reason I asked if someone was a teacher, was when I was trying to get info out of her she said there was a very nice lady named Ms. "KUNES" she then laughed. That was before I knew of the maiden name or her birth name Koons. Gosh, please, if you have anything, any pictures or heritage or information on your family, I would be so happy to review..I'm haunted with the desire and tormented with the idea that I may never see a 'single picture' of my grandma. Could you please tell me who the children were and or husbands, siblings, dates of birth and how Kuhn and Reed interlink in the family. If this was solved just merely going back one generation i would be thrilled to death. I've been obsessed with finding out just who , exactly was my mother..She was my best friend and yet she kept such secrets..her life before 1941 is a COMPLETE SECRET...I don't even know where she went to school really. My cousin found the school in Billings, Montana; where her mother went to school but My mother isn't there. her half brother, John Bernard StJohn, I know was in Billings, Montana in 1937..He worked at Stroup Hardware and married a Geraldine Cain..My cousin found this info recently. My grandma passed away in 1941 after a lengthy illness (heart problem) supposedly she'd been in Billings, Montana for 10 years. The babtism of her sister in 1937 (same year that mom's half brother applied for his social security application for a dry cleaners) was the same year that mom's sister was babtized under a different name and one year off on the birth. Did twins run in Emily's family? Was anyone born in 1889? Was there a relative missing or unheard from for a while? perhaps after marrying a German or perhaps from being disowned from the family or perhaps ???? I'm so exccited about this name which you have provided as it=' correlation between REED and KUhn is the first i've come across..I just can't help but think this is a significant link to mine...Thank you very much for reading this letter and please, please e-mail me [email protected] as well as posting to the site..Thank you, Again, Debbie - p.s. I'm copying this letter and sending it to my cousin at [email protected] one more thing, did you ever hear the name ELLEN and that name being a badluck name? Supposedly someone on Agnes' side of the family perhaps your grandma or great-grandma died of lockjaw? were there any girls named Charmaine or twin girls up every generation? did a husband or the Kuhn relative die after 1925 but before 1941? Did you ever hear the name Brownie? and were any relatives in the oil business and travel alot like to Illinois? sorry to bore you with all this..lol can you tell i'm desperate. I've deligently been searching from 1995. Thanks again, Debbie
