Families involved: REED~WESTBROOK~KUHN Hi Debbie: To answer some of your questions about the Reed - Kuhn's that I know of. One thing to keep in mind when reading some of this, my grandparents, (all 4 of them) were deaf mutes. They easily could have been confused, especially on census information. Unfortunately, I don't know much about this side of the family yet. I just started this search a year ago. And since I've not been in contact with this side of my family for years, I don't know much, and may not be able to help you at all. If there was any connection to a "school" for my grandmother it would have been a "deaf" school. I do know she was an intelligent woman, and had an education. My great grandmother is still a mystery to me, and I suspect she died somewhere about 1945 in either Los Angeles, or San Francisco. The last time I ever saw any of the Reed - Westbrook family I was probably about 3 years old so you can understand why I don't have much information. I too am anxious to find out more about this side of my family on my Grandmother's side and keep running into brick walls on both sides of my family due to the deafness in the family. The name "Daisy" is not confirmed, and I am going strickly on my memory so her name could have been something else, and Daisy was a "preferred" name. I found a census record for my Grandmother, Emily but it showed her mother came from California, father from Missouri. I found another record that showed her mother's maiden name as "Reed". She lived either in Los Angeles, or San Francisco, CA, because I remember going to visit her as a small child, but don't remember where I last saw her, could have been in either place. Grandmother: Emily Helen Westbrook, b: Aug. 31, 1901, Helena, MT. d: Aug 14, 1964, Los Angeles, CA married to Frederick Eugene Kuhn, b: Oct. 2, 1895, Sidney, IA. d: Nov. 9, 1953, San Diego, CA. Aunt: Dorthy Westbrook Uncle: Clarence Westbrook Cousin: Larry Westbrook All of the above lived in the San Francisco, CA area. Mother: Verda Marie Kuhn (Law, Saunders) B: July 6, 1923, South Gate, CA. She has lived in the Los Angeles, CA area most of her life, and this about all of the geneology I know about my mother. There was some mention many years ago that there was a twin in my family, but for some reason I thought it was that my Grandmother, Emily had a twin, but that is not confirmed or certain as of this date. My Mother's birth certificate shows only one child at the time of her birth. I don't know if any of this family is connected to you or your family, but it never hurts to ask or check it out.
