I am researching McGuire or Maguire Reed who apparently married three times in Ohio. He married first, Elizabeth Watson 2 Dec 1834 Montgomery County. In 1860 he is age 48 b, OH in Boone Co., IN with wife Mary age 58, b. VA and daughter, Caroline age 18, b. OH. In 1870 he is age 56 in Montgomery Co., OH with wife Mary 67 and no children. I have a marriage record of a Mary Ann Miller that is confusing. At first glance it appears that Mary Ann Miller is marrying Peter Lehman, Sr. However here is how the printed document reads with inserted handwriting: Page 563 State of Ohio, Montgomery County: Personally appeared in the Probate Judge's Office, within and for the County of Montgomery Peter Lehman Sen. who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he ["he" is crossed out and the name Maguire Reed is inserted above the printed "he"] is more than twenty-one years of age, and has no lawful wife living; and that Mary Ann Miller is more than eighteen years of age, and has no lawful husband living; that she is a resident of the County of Montgomery, and that he knows of no legal objection to the marriage contemplated between him and the said Mary Ann Miller. Sworn to and subscribed before me } Peter Lehman this 21st day of March 1872 } Jacob Stephens Deputy Clerk To the Judge of the Probate Court of Montgomery County, O. married on the 21st day of March A.D. 18 72 Maguire Reed and Mary Ann Miller by A. Bowers. Minister What causes confusion is 1) the name of Peter Lehman being entered onto the line where the name of the groom normally appears; 2) the crossing out of "he" and inserting above it the name of Maguire Reed; but most of all 3) Peter Lehman physically signing in the place where the groom usually signs. On the same page is another record of marriage that is filled out properly. I don't find a Peter Lehman with a wife Mary Ann in the 1880 census for Montgomery Co. In 1880 he is 65 with a different wife, Mary Ann (Stewart) Latin (widow of Isaac) whom he married 26 Jul 1841 in Greene Co., OH. Living with them is Joseph H. Grubb, age 36 b. OH and Jacob Grubb age 26 b. OH. Their relationship to the head of household is "Step son". I hope there is someone on this list who can help me sort this out. Connie Bradbury
