I would like info on the family (ancestors) of John 'Sonny' Reed who married Mary Witt (d. of Edmund and Sarah (Cook) Witt in Stokes County, NC in 1830. At some point, they moved to Union County, TN by 1839 and then into Campbell County, TN by ____. Sonny was a well known Baptist preacher (his son, John Wiley Reed, was even more well known) and is cited in a book entitled TENNESSEE PIONEER PREACHERS. In another book written about a church in Campbell County, TN, it is said that at some point John 'Sonny' Reed told his family that they were of 'Black Dutch' descent. I'm curious as to what that means and how many people in the Stokes County, NC area claim to be 'black dutch.' Any help with the Reed family prior to their move to TN would be helpful.
