Hi Doris - Can you tell me if one of the children was named John Quincy Reed? Reed Livingston (nee SQUIER) Doris Forsyth <dfforsyth@cableone.net> wrote: The earliest known ancestor that I've been able to document is David Reed, who was living in Belmont County, Ohio, with his wife, Anna Dyson and a family of 7 children. He died in 1815, leaving this large family, including a daughter born after his death. Nothing shown about his death-funeral, burial, or anything of this kind-just $2.50 for a new coat for him. Documents on the division of the land after his death tells nothing personal about any of this family. Some land records for the land he purchased in Belmont County show that he was a resident of Erie County, PA, at that time-about 1803. Also brief records of the birth of their first child, James, show he was born near Cincinnati, Ohio in 1805. Since Ohio did not become a state until after 1800, so no census records then, census records for 1810 were destroyed and David died before the census of 1820, I am unable to find anything definite about this ancestor. Have had the old (stored) records of Belmont County searched and nothing found there. Help or suggestions? Doris ============================== Search the US Census Collection.
