Hello, Listers! I am seeking information about Charles Arthur Reed, b. abt.1824 in New York. He lived in LeRay, Jefferson County, NY, during the 1850 census with his wfe Ann B. Johnston, (b. abt. 1831 Canada) whom he married 27 Nov 1848. Also in the 1850 census, he is listed as living with his mother, Rebecca Reed, b. abt. 1889, Susan Reed, b. abt. 1824, Helen M. Reed, b. abt. 1843, and Elizabeth Reed, b. abt. 1845. Next door to this family is a Vincent Reed, b. abt. 1827, Louisa Reed, b. abt. 1829, and a baby, Charles A. Reed, b. 2 Feb 1850, 6 months old. This baby Charles A. Reed is, I believe, my gggrandfather. He married Lydia E. Hart, daughter of John Hart and Adelia Stephens, and lived in Black River, Jefferson County, NY, until about 1883, when they emigrated to Spink County, SD. Their children, also born in Jefferson County, were Bert Allen Reed, b. 6 July 1873, and Anna Reed, b. abt. 1879. My questions are as follows: Charles A. Reed #2 listed his father as Charles A. Reed #1. However, from the census data, it looks like Charles #2's REAL father was Vincent Reed and mother, Louisa ?. Does anyone have any information on anyone I've listed here?
