Looking for the parents of James REID/REED and Anna LEWIS (his wife). James REID was born about 1800 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, died 10 Feb 1882 in Allamakee County, Iowa. Anna LEWIS was born about 1810 in Pennsylvania, died 2 Mar 1852 in Iowa. They were Married about 1832 and their first child Mary Ann was born about 13 Apr 1834 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Their other childern Lewis, Margaret, Rebecca, James Bird, Emma Rosina, and George O. were born in Ohio, probably Ashtabula County. Later the family moved to Allamakee County, Iowa. From the land records of Crawford County it appears that William REED my be James' father. The "Crawford County Genealogy Newsletter - Spring/Summer 1990" has a REED family listed. William REED II (born 7 Mar 1807) son of William REED and Mary (BOYD) REED. William REED the second or Jr. (Jr. in the land records) married Sarah Cline Bennett and had 13 children. They later moved to Allamakee County, Iowa. I have found a will in Crawford County for James REED (who may be related to William but who is not the James I am looking for) but nothing for William REED. There are a number of LEWIS families living in Crawford County in the early 1800s but I have no idea to which family Anna belongs. A week spent in Salt Lake City and a very little progress but each bit of information helps, at least I hope it does.
Hi Robert - Saw your query and wondered if you have come across a John Quincy REED? He was b. ca. 1834 in either NY of OH, parents unknown although there is a possibility that Janes REED b. 1799 in Ireland was his father. Thank you very much.
