Have any of you checked in the Nashville Tn Archives for the the Bible Records? There is a family of Reeds in it from Tn. Good luck
Betty, Thanks for sending the Attachment, I've looked through it, but don't know exactly which name might be connected to my Reed family. I do have a John Reed info that might be some relation to the NC Reeds, all I have on him is from another source who researched the Reeds. John Reed b abtt 1870 prob in TN abt 1799 married Nancy Worth in TN 1800 son Thomas (gg grandfather born - moved to NC-prob w/in-laws, had son John in 1848 in MO. maybe I can find a connection in the Ruby Miller files. Thanks, Barbara, My Jesse Reid (b.1803 Wake Co.,NC) was the son of John Clement Reid (his family was from Charlotte, Lunenburg, and Brunswick Counties VA originally). Jesse had brothers named Nathan Reid and Green Reid--Green went west to work on the stage coaches, it is said. I have never been able to find anything on Green Reid. The rest of my family stayed in NC. I don't know where JohnClement Reid went, nor when he died. The family Bible is silent. I have often wondered if JOhn Clement Reid was in the Amer. Revolution and got a land grant to go somewhere else, but don't know where. Nancy, The Baldridge are connected some how to my Clark in TN. Along with Porterfields. The same Clark married into the Reed family. Patricia
Her web site may be useful also. I think there is a William Reed on the map, but can't be certain. Betty Pace --------- Forwarded message ---------- I've just placed two hand-drawn maps online, one from the book, "Our Baldridge Forebears" and the other from the book, "The Turrentine Family." They are: "Map of Some Contiguous Farms Along Little River, About 1780" and "Map of Land Holdings in the Little River Area, Last Quarter, 18th Century." Most of the names on the latter are legible, but, if you can't read a name, just let me know and I'll look on the paper copy to see if I can decipher it. A list of names accompanies the other map. There was a John Reed/Reid in Orange Co., NC in 1787 when he married an Eliza Tate. Her brother James Tate was bondsman for this marriage. Later James Tate married and John Reed was his bondsman. I have some information on the Tates but can't find anything on this John Reed, but hope he is my John Clement Reid/Read/Reed, father of Jesse Reid (b.1803 Wake Co., NC)--Jesse Reid lived most of his life in Guilford Co. A place that might be well worth checking........... there was a James Denny of Orange Co. NC ( Orange is next to Guilford , in fact I believe part of Orange became Guilford) he purchased or sold land that James Denny had which joined the line of James Watson on Eno River. This is March 1755 Orange Co. Deed book. #1 . And I believe this is the same James Watson who had a daughter Helen who married William Reed Jr. son of William Reed Sr. and Elizabeth Sharp Douglas. other names on this document were witness W. Churton, Richard Vigars Patricia
I'd appreciate help on John Henry Reed. He lived in Bond County, Illinois and was born October 17, 1848. He was married to Rebecca Chestnut. I believe his father was William Reed born October 22, 1824 in Ohio. Thanks. Judy

Thanks so much Patricia, I will definitely look into the reference to Reed and Denny in Orange Co, North Carolina, from which part of Guilford Co, NC was formed. Cecy Rice
The only Patsy or Martha is Martha Reid in this family was born about 1758 in Mifflin Co., PA (remember the county boundaries changed several times in early PA). She married (1) Christopher Irvine then (2) James Bonner.
I have a Patsy or could be Martha that married a Reed. ----- Original Message ----- From: <JanAlpert@aol.com> To: <REED-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 04, 2005 8:05 PM Subject: [REED] William Reid/Reed from Crawford Co., PA > To those of you related to William Reid/Reed who married Mary Boyd Brennan > 14 > June 1783, I have made contact with Kathryn Reid Layton, who descends from > Samuel Reid, a brother of our William.
