One theory stated that John Reed was born in NC 1746 however I believe they had not arrived that early, maybe in the 1750s????? And I am looking in the Orange Co. NC area moving into Rowan or possibly vice versa. There were three distinct Reed families in Rowan Co. area. What were other surnames connected to your Reeds? Patricia
Thanks for the info. Names don't match any of mine. Patricia, you may have something here. I have a family of James Reed, who had sons James, William and others in Pennsylvania before the Rev. War and I have not been able to find his parents. Maybe these are some of the Scot Irish Reids/Reeds who went to NC. I have found my line's name spelled both ways. I have some recent research to write up to bring my PA family line up to date, but I have saved your email, and will copy you in a few weeks when I have it together with names and dates. Maybe you will see something that can connect the families. When do you think your Reeds first arrived in North Carolina?
Looking for anyone who can help me with 'brick wall' Davis (David) Reed. Born in Ohio in March 1833. Second marriage license says son of Isaac & Mahala Reed. (Do not have copy of first license but have sent for it) Married #1 Susannah Walker 15 May 1855 in Muskinghum County Ohio. Probably the David (24) & Susan (21)Reed in 1860 US Census Muskinghum County Ohio, Blue Rock. For sure the Davis (36) & Susan (30) Reed in 1870 Census Wabash County Illinois, Friendsville. In 1870 they have 4 children: William 14, Charles 9, Ida 5 and Sarah 8/12. By 1880 Davis has married a Susan Fail Lenord Osborne. 1880 Census Lawrence County Illinois, Bridgeport Lists Davis 47, Susan 28, Charles 17, Ida 14, Sarah 10 and Charles Lenord 6. By 1900 Davis age 67 is living by himself in Richland County Illinois, Olney. His great grand daughter wrote that Davis died 12 October 1912 but no location. (This is 3 years before her birth so someone gave her this information) Richland County could not find a death certificate or is there one online at the state. So here are a few of my questions: !. Is he the son of Isaac & Mahala Reed who are in the 1850 Muskingum County Ohio, Blue Rock? If so is he John D. or has he moved out of the house? If not where are his listed parentsin 1850? 2. Is Susanah Walker the 12 year old Susanna Walker in 1850 US Census Muskingum County Ohio, Blue Rock living in the household of Asa Gay (77) wirh Sarah Mathews (42) and Lewis Mathews (4) (possibly grandfather, Mother and 1/2 brother)? 3. Where is Susannah Walker Reed Buried? Lawrence County Illinois? 4. Where is Davis Reed's death certificate adn where is he buries? 5. What happened to the second Susan Reed? Died ? Where? 6. What happened to Charles Lenord? If anyone has any information (whether it proves or disproves any of the above) or knows where else I might look PLEASE email me at Treerooter42@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance for your help. Ruth _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Find. Hi, My line appears to be from Guernsey Co about 1830. Thanks anyway.
Looking for a Peter Reed who married a Sarah "Sally" Miller on 09-5-1799. Peter was from Augusta Co., VA. He was probably related to a Barbara (mother??), Catherine (sister??) and John (brother??) Reed as he was a witness at Catherine's wedding in 1800. Her father was William Miller and was deceased by time of marriage. They later show up in Harrison Co., VA (at least by 1810) and lived in a part of the county that later become Barbour Co., VA. They had children by the name of Peter, Jefferson, Madison and possibly Alpheus. Does anyone have any other info on this family?
Stephen, I have two sets of Reed/Reid in NC mid to late 1700s. While trying to unravel my mess, I ran accross a Reed/Reid group ( and by the way the spelling of Reed was not used in any of the Reed families that I came accross at the Archives in the mid 1700s , it was spelled Reid,( in exception of the John Reed gold mine and this was later and he was a German whose family changed their German Spelling to Reed) so Reid must have changed in this area later than mid 1700s.Getting back to the Reid of Iredell Co. a John Reid and Alexander Reid , descendants left NC and settled in Ga. I looked hard a this family because of so many similar names to my family which were in TN during this time frame. I have not found any connection to my Reed/Reid with this group as yet but imagine they all came down from PA and were Scot Irish, There were also Reed in SC , 1700s, they could have also been connected. Patricia
I haven't been able to trace the family back further than J W REID, b. about 1824 in GA. He married Sarah HARDEMAN in Carroll Co., GA and they lived there for some time before moving to Alabama. I assume he is connected to the other Reids of Carroll Co as many others of that family also moved to St Clair Co., AL. But I have no proof. I would be more than grateful for any help. Thanks, Stephen
You wouldn't happen to be descended from the Alexander Reed/Reid family, from Iredell Co. NC that moved into Ga. in the late 1700s to early 1800s. If so there is quite a bit of info on this family. Patricia

Hello, I want to say a big thank you for your support and kindness to me. I was trying something new and thought it might work to help on this line and it's connecting lines so maybe it would work to help us in our research and also clear up alot of the mistakes that are all over on family trees and also show what is really documented and save alot of work for alot of people. I have searched the LDS and such and found so many mistakes, and find so many that don't want to share. Please don't misunderstand, I have had so many wonderful people go to such great trouble to help and share with me and am so very greatful to them for there help and know there are some very careing researchers that go out of there way to help others. I thought I would take 1 family line and put in sections or Generations 1 and the next e-mail 2 and so on and as others sent to connect or fix the mistakes I had posted or say they had such things documented I could e-mail that and say it connects to Gen.2 on so & so line also this would show what is and isn't documented also clear up the mistakes posted so it would save alot of work and alot of money as some has this documented for sure. It would fill out some peoples lines give leads to others and extend others on their research. I wrote down all the names I had and was sending to those list even if they were not on Gen. 1 they may connect to the next or next but they would have it all by the time I was done. It was going to be a slow thing but I had hope to help me and many others. I was wrong as it seems people only want you to list that name for that site or that state. This is why I asked people please not do any work on what I send I didn't want them to work and try to help me as I thought others from these lines may already have it and may be sending it .Sending what they already had as this would help all in this family line and who connects to it and make new family connections. I was really wrong on that. Thanks anyway, Barbara eor@saber.net
I'm a descendant of Andrew Reed, b. 1693, m. Jean Murray. Emigrated from Northern Ireland to Massachusetts abt. 1730 1743. They then moved to Maine where many of them stayed. Andrew may have been b. in England. Anyone else researching this line? Carol Reed Kennedy
