    3. John Denny Reed married Elizabeth Jenkins on 18 August 1816 in Guilford Co, NC. I don't know anything about Elizabeth and can't place her parents or siblings. Her father was suppose to have been a Methodist minister. They came to Missouri in 1819 with their first two children, namely Henry Jenkins Reed and Thomas Black Reed. John D. Reed was the son of Henry Reed (I know that) and I think Agnes Bell. Henry and Agnes marriage date is 26 December 1766 in Rowan Co, North Carolina (if this is the right marriage). I can't place any of John D. Reed's brothers or sisters, although I have a lot of speculation due to wills and deeds. 2. I know that she had sisters Jemima and Rebecca. There are several males about the age to be her brothers that married in the county but I have no proofs. Jemima and Rebecca were younger and listed in the father's will. Jeanette

    3. Patricia and others My Henry Reed was married to Elizabeth Jenkins in Rowan County, North Carolina in 1766. He fought in the Revolutionary War according to his son and grandson. His son John Denny Reed was born in Guilford County, North Carolina and he fought in the 1812 War. I'm wondering if John or Henry fit in to one of the groups of Reed/Reid that have been mentioned. Thanks. Cecy Rice

    3. My gggrandfather, Joseph Reed was probably born in TN in about 1815, died in Iron County Missouri in about 1858. His wife was Jane Swearingin, believed to have been born in Lewis County, TN in 1825. Two of thier sons, (William Suttles Reed and Samuel Brown Reed) fought in the Union Army. Anyone know of a connection with their Reeds? 3. Patricia I may have contacted you before. My Reed/Reid family came down to NC from VA in mid to late 1700s--Name then Read--probably part of the Bushy Forest Reads of Lunenburg, Charlotte counties of VA. I wonder if you have run into this John Clement Reid? I found one in Orange Co. NC who married into the Tate family. Does anyone know anything about this John Reid/Reed who married this Elizabeth Tate in Orange Co., NC, in 1787? There was a James Tate connected to my Elizabeth Tate also. My John Clement Reid had sons named Jesse (my ancestor, b. Wake Co. 1803), Nathan, and Green. One theory stated that John Reed was born in NC 1746 however I believe they had not arrived that early, maybe in the 1750s????? And I am looking in the Orange Co. NC area moving into Rowan or possibly vice versa. There were three distinct Reed families in Rowan Co. area. What were other surnames connected to your Reeds? Patricia
