It has turned out that James was the one on the list. Other than John Howard Reed, I only know of one brother which was William. William was a few years older. James had 2 sons listed in the under 5 range which helped to locate him in De Soto MS 1840. If any of you know about this James Reed, please let me know. Thank you, Pat Heather Wright Robbins

Dear Listers, I am trying to find the marriage details of my great grandfather Robert W REED b c 1846 Ratcliff and his wife Ellen Harriet HOUGHTON b c 1852 Plumpstead Kent, in the early 1870's, as I cannot find any information on 1837online.com nor FreeBDM on Ancestry.com. What I do know about the family is as follows:- I have birth certificates for four of their children - 1873 Robert Frederick (my grandfather) Mile End Old Town father Robert William REED and mother Ellen Harriet REED formerly HOUGHTON. 1879 Ellen Louise Ethel REED Kent Road Surrey ditto 1889 Jessie Harriet Emma REED West Ham Essex ditto and Harriet Ellen Amelia REED West Ham Essex ditto. From the census details below Ellen was single in 1871 and appears married to Robert as Ellen READ b c 1852 Greenwich Kent. With Robert Frederick arriving in 1873 I assume the marriage took place around 1871/1873. 1. Re: [REED] George Reed Madison County Tennessee
    2. Pat, Have you tried the census in McMinn Co. Tn? It seems most of them had sons named James but there is a Jeremiah Reed with a wife named Francis (Fanny) Hafley Reed and they did have a son with a name of James. You might check there. Also in Nashville Archives there is a book with the Bibles copied and placed in one book that might help you tremendously, It did us. Jeremiah had two wives and two sets of children but they stayed with him, I do not know what happened to the first wife but you can figure out when they married and know by that which children were of the first wife and who was the second wife. Good Luck
