    1. Reeds in PA
    2. Doris Forsyth
    3. For quite a long time I have been researching Reeds in PA. One of my ancestors-Adonijah Reed-- was born in Fayette County, Connellsville, PA in 1794. Have traced him to Delaware County in the census of 1850 with his wife, Elizabeth Newhouse, and at least 7 children. Would really like to hear from anyone who might also be of this Reed family. Adonijah died in Cook County, Illinois, in 1862. Doris Reed Forsyth

Reed Dear Jimmy, This does not sound as if we are talking about the same Thomas Reed. But I have not thoroughly researched (or pressed! ) my source on this earlier Tom Reed. I will do so and perhaps there is an earlier connection. The Thomas Reed Family that I am looking into clearly had children born the same time as the one you have sent to me. The oldest daughter, Lula Reed Owers was born in 1874 and died in 1968. There were 10 children all together from wife 1# and wife 2# and I do not have all the dates but there MUST go into the decade of the 1880s! I so appreciate your responding. If I see anything later that seems to indicate a connection, I will be back with you! Thanks again. Betty Osborne -.-.-.-.This mail has been virus scanned and spam filtered.-.-.-.-

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 30, 2002 12:34 AM Subject: Thomas S. Reed I am researching a line of the Reed family in Texas. I was wondering if the Thomas S. Reed which you all had a correspondence related to in 1998 (posted on Ancestry.com) might be THOMAS SELDON REED? He had a grandson named Hiram Reed--which would lead one to think there might be a connection as your Thomas S. Reed had a brother named Hiram. However, THOMAS SELDON REED's first wife also had a brother named Hiram and it may have come from there. Do you have any further info? Would be greatly appreciated. B. 3. Dear Annette, Sure I would love to explore any possible connection. This Reed family has been one of blank walls until now so I don't have much. SKS have been finding the census and marriages but that's about it for what I have. John & Eliza appear from census records to have had four children. Mahalia abt 1841 who appears to have married Charles Kilbourn on 3 Apr 1864 in Henry County, Iowa. Wesley abt 1845 unknown after that Lydia Ann 1847 married James A. Shepherd on 12 Jul 1866 in Henry County - they were my great grandparents - more descendants for them. Mary? abt 1850 unknown after that Deborah in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, USA snip >>> I'm not sure if she fits into my Reeds or not, but they were in the same area in the same time frame. Would love to discuss it with you more if you are interested. My Nancy Jane Reed was born about 1846 and married Theodore Dover in Zanesville in 1864. 2. Deborah Jaquiss
    3. Dear Bunny, In my parents house, I just found an old New Testament that has handwritten in the inside back cover and fly leaf "Lydia Ann Reed born June 16, 1847 near Zanesville Ohio came to Iowa in a covered wagon, when a little girl not quite 6 yrs of age, with her parents, John and Eliza Reed who settled on a farm about 9 miles south of Mt. Pleasant IA." That is all it says about Lydia Ann Reed or her family prior to her marriage in 1866 to James Alvin Shepherd in New London, IA. I doubt if Lydia Ann Reed was an only child but I have no further information about any siblings. Lydia Ann Reed was my great grandmother. Does this mean anything to anyone or tie into anyone else's "Reed's"? Anyone with any further information or any further guidance on research please contact me on or off list as appropriate. 3. Hi, I'm researching a John L. Reed who served in the Creek War, in 1836, from Alabama. He was a Private in Captain Arnold's Company, Alabama Mounted Volunteers. He enrolled for three months of service at Jacksonville, Alabama, on June 9, 1836. After serving for three months, he was mustered out at Jacksonville on September 17, 1836. I would like to hear from anyone who has an interest in this John L. Reed. Thanks, Mike Landwehr
