I saw a Jessie Reed in the census records in Colorado 1930. I think the township was Becham or Beckham. It's a long shot but maybe it's a name sake. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2003 6:55 PM Subject: Re: [REED] Re: James Isaac Reed > Thanks Natalie I will check this out and if I run across your Jesse I will let > you know. > Thanks again Linda > > Dear Linda, > > > > I found a 9 yr old James on the 1870 census with his family. Wendy, Type in free genealogy researchers in your browser bar and hopefully it will bring up some help for you. I am in the United States. But I am no longer helping the Reed family research until some more facts come up. The Reed's this family was researching was Mayme Gunn-Reed from Arkansas, USA. Sorry. Oh and go to ancestry.com and ask for help there or if adopted type in birth moms in your browser bar to seek assistance with adoption info. Hi-- I am looking for any connection to my Reeds of Ohio. My gr-grandfather was Salem Reed married to Elizabeth (Adelia) Napier Reed. He was the sone of Samuel and Mary (Aker/Akers) Reed. Samuel was the son of Noah Reed and Betsey (Stahl/Stall) Reed. Noah was from Virginia, but settled in Fairfield County, married in Nov. 1813. Noah and Betsey Reed later settled in Licking County, Ohio and had two sons Samuel (mygr-gr-grandfather) and William which I have no info on. Samuel married Mary in Fairfield County, Ohio and had eight children---Salem, Isaac, Laverne, , Freeman, Nelson, Laura and others. Three Reed brothers married three Napier sisters Salem married Elizabeth (Napier) Reed in Allen County, Ohio and had Walter Cledith (my grandfather), Smith Hamlin, Samuel, Ida Mae, Laverne Susan and others. Any information would be most appreciated! Kate
I am in that boat. The only thing on the cetificate was J Reed and he was supposed to have died when James was young and his mother remarried. And I have no idea who she married. Thanks, Linda
Hi Linda, I sent your last note on to Christine who has taken up the search through LDS history center I believe. I think you two should communicate. Maybe there's a connection as her mother Artie Reed and sisters were taken away from parents and placed for adoption in early thirties. You know it was nothing for families to live in one state for a few months and then pick up to live several states away for work elsewhere in those days. I was helping them search but there are things now that Christine and her mom needs to do before we can go any further and I have been working two jobs and taking a class so I have not heard from her in a while. She is also a really busy gal with a couple of jobs and teenage kids so please be patient if you do not hear from her right away. Good luck. You should be able to go to the Vital Records office inthe state capital to get a recent death as 1937. On it should be the parents. The marriage record should as well. Unless of course you too have a REED who lists no parents anywhere as I do! Hi, Each time I read a message on the Reed mailing list, or one of those from Pennsylvania, I wonder just how there could have been so many Reeds early on in Pennsylvania!! My ancestor, Adonijah Reed, was born in Fayette County, PA, in 1794. This is not a documented fact, but believe his parents were James and Elizabeth Reed. It isn't as though there was a scarcity of James Reeds or Elizabeth Reeds, either! Adonijah Reed married Elizabeth Newhouse and they had 8 children. Info shows that several of them died fairly young, their son, David, died in Andersonville during the Civil War. I next find Adonijah and Elizabeth in Delaware County, Ohio. I would very much like to establish the parents of Adonijah, and there is a wealth of info on the Newhouse line, but nothing about the parents of Adonijah. Help, or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Doris Reed Forsyth
Hi List, I think it would be fun to contact any Reeds that are related to any of these branches: David and Ruth Reed found in Butler Co. Ohio 1812 Samuel Reed m. a Swartzell then a Moore lived in Iowa 1800's The Robert Reed and Mary Fleming Family (early 1830's) Thomas Carrick Reed Family m. Polly Dickey. any Reeds down from Robert and Elizabeth Gardiner Reed. who lived in Middletown twp. Cumberland Co. PA 1751. Smiles, Denise

Hi Barbara--- Try to get a copy of the death certificate from the state of Missouri. It has a wealth of information on it i.e., father, mother, place of birth, etc. Also, did you try the link for the 1860 census for the state of Ohio. It will show the father & mother's name, place of birth, etc. If you need the links for the vital records or Ohio Census let me know. Kate [email protected]
