My grandmother Mary Beth Reed is buried in the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus along with her parents William B. Reed and Jessie P. Norton. Other Reeds are Joseph Reed who married Zerilda Elkins. Eldad P. Reed who married Nancy Woody are buried in Jackson co.. Do these names sound familar? Hello, I was helping my friends mom try to find her birth family Reeds but other family members have taken over the search so I'd like to get my name and e-mail deleted from the Reed list but do not know how to do it. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much. Thanks. My Reeds ended up in Bartholmew Country and like I told you, I think I had to write the department of Veteran Affairs to get the ddeath date and where he was buried. I caled the cemetary in Columbus Indiana and sure enough they looked it up and told me they had them. Frank
Frank: So far I haven't encountered the names you wrote about but maybe somewhere along the way we will connect with the names. Keep in touch and we will find out. barbara __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
my mother said her maiden name was Millan but when she passed away in 1995 I ordered her birth certificate; only then did I find her true maiden name was Koons. However, She and her sister both had made-up (fictitious) names. Even my grandma (their mother) whom I never met also had many names...Agnes Gertrude Reed, Agnes E Reed, Agnes Johns, Agnes StJohn (married name) and Agnes E Koons. So, Don't really know much but I did find her to have passed away in 1941 Billings, Montana..Never met my grandpa either, Agnes' husband. I was told a different name but oon birth certificate of mom's he is listed as Howard C Koons. Thank you for your info..Debbie
It's interesting that you mention that Lucy was supposedly a name in the Reed family. My Grgrgrandmother was Electa Reed born 1800 in Ct. She married Hustin McMillan who was born 1799 in Ir. Their dtr my Grgrandmother was Lucy Caroline McMillan. Have no idea who Electa's parents were. Do know she and Hustin were living in NY when their children were born. M.E. thank you...Lucy was a name 'supposedly' in the family..what marriages or children do you have?
Lucy b.1879 is all I have. Yo see my Granfather Franklin, "Frank" left home at a young age and went to California. My mother Ola Reed Cornelius and an Aunt told us there were ony 4 children in the family. When I got into the search I found there were 8 in the family. So I have virtually no records of the last 4 children born. I finally found out when my GGfrandfather James E. D. died and where he and his wife Lucinda were buried by going to The Department of Veteran Afairs. He was a Civil War vet. I have a suspicion that we are related. Looking to find a connection between my ggrandfather William Riley Reed b. Dec. 17, 1856 in Randolph Co. In. His middle name I am hoping is a family name from his mother so I am hoping to find out if his parents were William Reed who married Minerva Riley, Jan. 19 1849 in Orange County, In. I have William Reed and Minerva living in Orange County in 1850. Would like to know if anyone can help me check 1860 Orange or Randolph Counties to see if they are there with William Riley. Also it is a possiability they were in Kansas or Missouri at some point. My William Riley Reed I think married at the age of 21 to unknown, and they had a daughter Gineva D. who was born in Missouri in 1883. But then William Riley married Mary Ellen Hayward in Bates County, Butler Mo. in 1886 and they had eight children all born between Mo. and Kansas, from 1887 till 1908. In Orange county In. in the year 1839 there was also a Rebbeca Reed who married Alonzo F. Riley. Could they be related? Could someone check 1830 census for a brother and sister, william and Rebecca? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Barbara __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
1836 in Montgomery County Kentucky --- [email protected] wrote: > What year was your Reed born? > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion > online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
What year was your Reed born?
Ellen, I don't know if my Reed line is yours or not. They had a son named John from the family Bible. my John Reed's parents were Jeremiah and Francis "Fanny" Hafley Reed in Tn. Do those names ring a bell with your line? EL
Hi Ellen - There were Reed's and Copes in St. Louis - do you know if either came from there? Reed Livingston (nee SQUIER)
I really don't know anything about the Reed except that he married Cora Belle Cope who is a sister to my grandmother. The story goes: "Robert was going somewhere in the morning hours and was riding his horse (many years ago, Oklahoma was not even a state until 1907) and he met three young Indian men who were also on horse back and after they had passed, the young men turned around and shot Robert. At the trial when asked why they killed him their answers were very simple. The three had decided that morning that they would kill the first white man they met and Robert just happened to be the luck one. I have not been to the records which I think are stored in Muskogee, OK at the Federal building but my plan is for a trip this year. The records were not kept at the county in which this happened since OK was not a state and when we became a state, older court records where sent to a depository. This is a wild gamble but maybe I will get luck and find the facts somewhere. Thanks for you answer and good luck in searching. ellen ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2003 9:44 AM Subject: Re: [REED] Robert Reed > Hi Ellen - There were Reed's and Copes in St. Louis - do you know if either > came from there? > Reed Livingston (nee SQUIER) > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
Is there anyone on this list that has notes for a Robert R. Reed who married Cora Belle Cope, 5 Feb 1892 in Indian Territory (present day--Okfuskee Co, Oklahoma). He was killed abt. 1899 in Okfuskee County leaving his widow and three small children: Bertha, Antony, and Trebon. On the marriage records the father's name appears to be John Reed and the mother is R (L) Long. The L is very difficult to read but that is what it appears to be. I would appreciate any clues that you may have to further my research. thanks ellen
