Newington Jail....Do you mean Newgate jail? I was always bothered by these dates. Something did not seem to add up. We have some saying he was born in 1680 yet he was appearing on passenger lists in 1670's. So maybe we are looking for two Edwards. Father and son. This would make more sense. Are there any definite dates we can can pin him down to? date of children births? anything? I think you mentioned his will was circa 1750. This would make his DOB 1680's or 1690's. In which case he cannot be the Edward on the passenger lists or the one in Barbados. >>>>so must be a father, perhaps Edward Thomas Revis 1675 frm Eng to Maryland, where he died in 1728 Maybe this is the Edward on the passenger lists and the father of Edward-1. Are you going to call him Edward-0 ? :-) >>>>>The spelling of his name almost seems to be irrelevant This is important for the location of the records I search in England. As I said before there are no REAVIS names in the north of England but some in the South West along with the names RIVES, RYVES and RIVERS. Likewise REVIS/RIVIS are nearly all in the North with a pocket in the South East. It just helps me decide where to search. It does help to know he had a sister Frances. Thank you that will be very useful. Andrew Sefton Yorkshire England
