first Paddington was in St Margarets Parish..and in the St Margarets chuch, Westminister, Greater London; there are records of Rivis, Reaves, Reeves, Ashley and Alley, 1500-1600. The Westminister conference was center for Separatists. (much of this frm research of Kay and Velda Welton, research- ing Alley there ) Edward Rivis 1671-2 transported by Capt JosiahPickles 1674-5 Edward Rivis and Wm Ashley frm Paddington 1691 Eliza Revis land patent in Ba Francis/male in Onslow Co NC 1744 Frances, supposedly sister of Edward-1 so must be a father, perhaps Edward Thomas Revis 1675 frm Eng to Maryland, where he died in 1728 So contrary to the oral fam hx passed down, there WERE other Rivis/Revis. The one we trace started with spelling RIVIS, then Revis, when first to NC REAVES, ca1750 Will and other rec REAVIS; then Revis slowly creeps back in. Still a big mystery. *B
