Have ck'd out the Shepard families in Buncombe co and she is not there..BUT the census records did not give household mem- bers til 1850, and she was already married by then. She could well have come frm another county, Lynne has located Shephards in Macon co..but there I find no family she could be frm.. then some of families in Buncombe co in addition to coming frm Rutherford Co (which have not investigated to good), Lynne says some came also frm Ashe co.
