The "official" records say he was born in NC, but Barb and I are beginning to wonder about OH, since it looks as if several of the sons of Edward-3 migrated from NC to OH in the 1830s, and then into IN in the 1840s. There is very little info available on William H's father, who was Henry W-4, s/o Edw-3, Jesse-2, Edw-1. We do find a marriage of Eliza Baker and Henry Reavis March 1835 in Williamson County TN. We're not certain this is the "right" Henry, but it is the "right" time. There seems to be no record of a Henry Reavis marrying in NC during this time period. Family oral history, at least partially substantiated by research, says that William H went to live with his uncle Enoch at an early age. One story says he traveled with him to IN. That would have been in the mid 1840s, we believe, but Enoch was living in Butler Co OH 1830-1845, and not NC. We haven't found any evidence of where Henry might be from 1835 onward. The family oral history indicates that his sons all went to IN. We don't have ages for any of them except William H, but it's possible one or two were born before 1839. Even so, they would have been very young to travel unchaperoned. If Henry didn't take them, who did? If they went without him, why? Had he perhaps died already? Thus, we are attempting to locate several figures in this part of the family. All help is greatly appreciated!
