Julia P. Reavis was born in Cooper co Mo in 1840, d/o Sarah Berkeley and Wm Perry Reavis who was born 1813 Rutherford Co NC, he went to California with his bil Edmonds and O'Bryan, and died ca1849 nr Sacramento, California. She married John Webster Sutherland, s/o John Sutherland and Elizabeth Smith at the home of her uncle and guardian, Edmund Elliott, nr Boonville, Mo. Her husband was her schoolteacher, he graduated frm Jefferson College in Pa., taught school for several years, later was president of the Young Ladies' Seminary at Jefferson City, Mo.; was a member of the board of regents of the State University.
