Have just returned from researching Buncombe County records. For Thomas H. Revis, I have the following from the 1880 Buncombe County Census obtain from the Old Buncombe County Genealogical Society: Family #168 - Page 115 Revis, Thomas H. 38, born NC, father born NC, mother born NC Mary A. 27, same as above James 10, b. 1870 R. Harison, b. 1871 married Ida Capps 12/26/1896 Fanney 7, b. 1873 Kenneth 5, b. 1875 - also known as Hicks - I have a marriage for him, but will have to locate later. I have not had enought time to organize all the information I have returned with. Arry 2 b. 1878 Minney 8 months b. 1879 Family #169 - page 115 William N. Revis, 66, NC, NC, NC b. 1814-1815 Fanney 65 same, b. 1816 Catherine 15 b. 1865 Milton L. 13, b. 1867 James 3, grandson, b. 1877 It appears that Thomas H. Revis, who appears in the 1860 census and Daisy R 7, b. 1851, who also appears in the 1860 census, being siblings, had grandchildren in the William N. household during the 1880 census. James is James Henry Revis (22) who married Candley Idella Wheeler (20) 7/20/1899. Have application for marriage license. While researching James Henry & Idella's children, I located a belated birth certificate for Homer Lewis Revis b. 2/24/1913 and also one for Franklin Dennis Revis b. 6/7/1921. This family during the 1960s lived in the Washington, DC area. Responding to Barb's message of 9/18/200 Re: James Henry Revis 1878 - 1954, yes the dates are correct. Their children include: Mamie Victoria b. 11/1900 in Asheville, NC; Oliver Duffield Revis b. 4/1907, Asheville d. 1998 Balto, MD Otis Odell Revis 3/1909, Asheville d. 1969 Balto. MD Maude Ree born 12/1911 married John Suess Mildred possibly another daughter The last two children were probably not born in Asheville, perhaps in the Norfolk area. Checking. According to James Henry Revis and Candley Idella Revis marriage license, James Henry's father was Nick Revis and his mother Daisy Revis. >From land records found that a "J. Cole and his wife Daisy R. Cole, (formerly D. R. Revis)" purchased land in 1891. Since these same people sold land to James Henry in 1895, we believe that Daisy R. Cole, formerly D. R. Revis, is James Henry's mother. However, we cannot locate a Nick Revis. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Joan Revis
