I'm researching the Raner/Rainer/Rayner/Raynor family of Virginia. I would love to hear of anyone with connections to VA, especially in the 1840 and previous time frame. My personal line deadends with James Harvey Raner born 1821 in Orange Co, VA. In that area I find what I think is a family group, headed by John Rayner a Rev war veteran. I believe he had sons John, George, James, William, Thomas. The name appears connected to Gillespies and Herrons among others.
