Here is my query again then: Hi - Just found out my husband's g grandma Sara Erma LOCKHART RAYNER was responsible for making the name change from RAYNOR to RAYNER. She married Jonathan Lambert RAYNOR ca 1886 in CA and he was b 14 Nov, 1862, Eng. She was b 20 Nov, Lodi, CA but her parents were from IN and PA so not sure if she was PA Dutch, or Quaker yet.... Was there a descrimination problem at that time do you think, like the Irish dropping the "O" or the "Mc" in their names?? Would anyone have any idea why she would deliberately want to do that? He died Jonathan Lambert RAYNER 16 Dec, 1932 and this RAYNER line still continues today.
