Sorry, Karima, but the new (third) millennium won't begin until a year from today. A millennium is defined as 1,000 years; the second thousand years will not end until midnight December 31, 2000. The world's and the U.S.'s official timekeepers - the Royal Greenwich Observatory and the U.S. Naval Observatory, respectively - agree that the new millennium is still a year away.
