    1. [RAYNOR] Yorkshire Raynors
    2. Satima Flavell Neist
    3. I wonder if anyone else is hunting their Raynor roots in Yorkshire, England? I have a 4ggmother, Rebecca Reyner (that was the usual spelling!), probably born in Collingham (or maybe Spofforth), YKS, UK, in about 1765. Her parents were Timothy Reyner and Anne Manners, and Timothy's father was Eleazer Rayner, a schoolteacher. As schoolteachers often have done and still do, Eleazer moved around quite a bit: Timothy was born in Ledsham, but Eleazer and his wife Rosamund (nee Wilby) had children born in several different places. All were, however, in the northern part of the old North Riding. I also have another line of Rayners to trace in Australia, but so far I haven't found out where they came from in the UK. Cheers, Satima Check out my site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~satima and extracts from my tree at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=callywoo_43 NGS page: http://www.familyhistory.uk.com/ngs/user635.shtml

    1. [RAYNOR] Joseph & Mary Raynor - Seattle WA c1890
    2. Hal Hileman
    3. Hello list, I am new to the Raynor list and have come here in hopes of learning anything I can about my relative, Mary [Hileman] Raynor her husband Joseph and their family. Joseph and Mary moved from Warren, Jo Davies Co., Illinois, to Atlantic, Iowa, c1880. They again moved to to Seattle, Washington, c1890. In 1931 the family was still in the Seattle area as I found Mary Raynor's as 2558 Dexter Avenue, Seattle, WA. I believe they had seven or eight children, but I do not have any names. I would really enjoy finding my lost Raynor relatives, and if by chance you have any any information or advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Hal Hileman

    1. [RAYNOR] sorry I used fancy staty today for St Pats, and see it was not allowed:

    3. Here is my query again then: Hi - Just found out my husband's g grandma Sara Erma LOCKHART RAYNER was responsible for making the name change from RAYNOR to RAYNER. She married Jonathan Lambert RAYNOR ca 1886 in CA and he was b 14 Nov, 1862, Eng. She was b 20 Nov, Lodi, CA but her parents were from IN and PA so not sure if she was PA Dutch, or Quaker yet.... Was there a descrimination problem at that time do you think, like the Irish dropping the "O" or the "Mc" in their names?? Would anyone have any idea why she would deliberately want to do that? He died Jonathan Lambert RAYNER 16 Dec, 1932 and this RAYNER line still continues today. 3. My husbands g grandparents were: Jonathan Lambert RAYNER and Sarah(Sallie) E. LOCKHART RAYNER. He was b. 14 Nov, 1862, ENG He m.ca.1886, CA to Sarah E. LOCKHART She was b. 20 Nov1870, Lodi, CA They were in the Sonoma Co, CA area They moved to AZ however in ca.1912/13 to "homestead" there. He d. 16 Dec, 1932, AZ and they shipped his body back to CA and is supposedly buried in a cemetery in Vista, San Diego Co., CA. She eventually moved back to CA staying in Compton, Los Angeles Co., CA (prob with family there) and she d. 26 Apr, 1957 and is buried in same cemetery as he is. Does anyone know what the name of the cemetery is there???? Also, we were told Sara was responsible for changing their name from RAYNOR to RAYNER. Would she have done this do you think like the Irish did at one point with dropping the "MC" or the "O" due to discrimination at the time whether Irish, English, Dutch???? She was a LOCKHART and her parents were from IN and PA and wonder if they were Dutch, or what? Any ideas????
