Still searching for our elusive JOSEPH RATLIFF believed born Abt. 1810 - 1815 in Tennessee 1842 on Tax List for Carroll County Mississippi 1843 Married Sarah BARRENTINE in Carroll County Mississippi Their children were; William H., Margaret, James Pinkney, George, Greenberry (sp?), Martha, and Joseph Jr. b. 1861 in Louisiana 1848 Land Records - 80 acres & 13/100 of an acre in Attala County, Mississippi 1850 Census Attala County, Mississippi states birth in Mississippi ? 1860 Census DeSoto Parish, Louisiana states birth in Kentucky ? 1861 Married to Mary Johnson Aten (widow of John Aten) in Louisiana (no children) 1864 Abt. Married Elizabeth GIBSON in Louisiana They had two more children, Jesse Robert RATLIFF / RATCLIFF (my Grandfather) & Elizabeth 1870 Census DeSoto Parish, Louisiana 1870 Oral family history says he removed to Somewhere in Texas with his older children?? I believe that the following may be our Joseph Ratliff, but of course there is another wife !! 1880 Census, Polk County, Arkansas 126/148 RATLIFF, Joseph W M 71 m. Farmer b. Tennessee b. Unknown b. Unknown ( It is noted that Joseph cannot write) Josephy W F 57 wife m. Keeping house b.Virginia b. Virginia b. Virginia (this name appears to be crossed out and written over with the name of Nancy) Joseph W M 18 son s. works on farm b. Louisiana b. Tenn. b. Miss BROWN Frank W M 9 boarder s. at home b. Arkansas b. Unknown b. Unknown Can anyone connect to any of this information? Would like to know who Joseph's parents and sibblings are? Where did he die and buried?
