I am new to the list so I will try to give as much information as I can on the Ratliff lines I am looking for. John RATLIFF, born 1750 in Virginia, died aft. 1832 in Arkansas, probably in Crawford county or Van Buren from what My grand father remembered. His wife's name is unknown to me. Their children were James Ratliff, b. 1780 Job Ratliff, some times seen spelled Jobe. b. in 1782 in Virginia, died in Williamson County, Tx. William Ratliff, b 1784 Thompson Ratliff, b 1798 >From above children, Job Ratliff, son of John Ratliff, b. 1782 in virginia. He married Agnes (?) in Virginia, and their children were: Delilah Ratliff James B. Ratliff, b. 1806 in ILL. (Madison county maybe) died in Florence, Williamson county Texas. Guilford Ratliff, there were 3 Guilfords all related but the other two spelled their names as I have seen slightly different. (S. Gilford, and Gilford). Guilford was b. 1810 in ILL. and he died in Florence, Tx. Joseph Ratliff, b. 1817 Job Ratliff, b. December 19, 1821 he married a Mary ( J ) and died April 12, 1899 in Williamson county, Tx Guilford Ratliff, from above children, son of Job and Agnes Ratliff, grand son of John Ratliff. b. in 1810 in ILL married Mahala (?) in either Arkansas or Texas?, he died in Florence, Tx. abt 1855, Mahala was believed to have remarried. Guilford and Mahala's children were (this may be incomplete) Mildred S. Ratliff, married George Fisher, on Sept. 2, 1858 in Williamson county, Tx. Archillus Ratliff, b. 1829, m. Lucinda Anderson on June 30, 1853 in Williamson county, Tx James C. Ratliff, b. 1832 ( I believe his line is in Enid, Oklahoma, an Aubrey Ratliff) Joseph Ratliff, b. 1836, died aft 1906 think in Bell county, Tx. Thompson Ratliff, b. Feb. 8, 1838 in Arkansas and died Aug. 3, 1883 Delilah Ratliff, b. 1840 and she married a George W. Stroud, or Strand on Nov. 7, 1861 in Williamson County, Tx Job Marshall Ratliff, b. either mar. 29, 1841 or 1843 in Crawford county, Arkansas, m. Ivy Anderson or Susan Frances Meeks March 7, 1861 in williamson county or Bell county, tx. he died Dec. 16, 1916 in Mullin, Mills County Tx and is buried in Ebony Cemetery in Mullin. John K. Ratliff, b. 1847 These following 4 children were mentioned in papers I have received from other cousins and I am not sure if they are with the correct Guilford or not. 1) William H. Ratliff, b. 1843 in Arkansas, and died aft 1860 in Florence, Williamson county Tx. 2) Ratliff, b. 1844 Arkansas (that is it) 3) and 4) Ratliff, b. 1844 Arkansas (twins) Then lastly, Mary Mahala Ratliff, and possibly a conflict in information here or twins with both having the first name of Mary. Mary Elizabeth Ratliff. B. May 18, 1851 in Williamson county, Texas. Mary Mahala married John M. Wade and she died Aug. 23, 1903 also in Williamson county, Tx. Mary Elizabeth Ratliff married W. R. Hall on Mar. 26, 1871 in Williamson county, Texas. ( this or these Mary's were the only ones born in Texas I believe.) >From the above children, Joseph Ratliff son of Guilford and Mahala Ratliff, grand son of Job and Agnes Ratliff, great grand son of John Ratliff, b. 1836 and married Frances Harrell, and I have two wedding dates, one that looks good for a legitimate birth and one that relatives found in a family Bible? The first is Sept. 17, 1857 and the second is Aug. of 1858. These are my great grand parents and from my mothers memory of her uncles and aunts we know there was a Lee, but I can find no evidence of him in records. I am wondering if he used his middle name and it was Lee, or if he were illegitimate or from a previous marriage that is unknown? The birth line up as my mother remembered them was this. Lee Ratliff, the oldest, and he moved to cripple creek, in colorado making his way in the gambling profession as owner, and saloon owner. Louisa, Lu Ratliff. b. Jan 18, 1859 in either Arkansas or Texas ? she married an Anderson (their children were Frankie, Frances, and Walter) widowed she married William P. Wright, we called him Sam. Their children were, Billy (a girl), Constance (Connie or Con), Kelly L and Harrell. Wright and Lu owned the Box T in Texas at one time. Mary Ratliff, who married George Howard of Texas history, widowed she married John A. Biggers ( she too owned the Box T and we think she and her husband sold it to Lu and Wright) Mary also had something to do with the Turkey track and she and John moved to Montana, as he was to be an Indian Agent for the Crow (I have not found documentation on that even though I have letters from Aunt Mary from reservation land). Mary also raised her younger brother Thompson's daughter Vera (she could not have children) . Vera married a Ted C. Wolf with or with out an "e", I do not know.. I know they had at least one son Tom Wolf. Thompson Ratliff, he married ??? I think in Woodward, Oklahoma as he and his younger brother Joseph (JOE) ran a saloon and gambling establishment there until the Federal government shut them down after Oklahoma came into state hood dry.. His wife died in child birth with Vera, mentioned above. George Ratliff, he was at one time a guard or warden at ( my mom thought) McCalister Prison. He had at least one daughter named Frances who used to write to my aunt, but many years ago. Frances and her brother were attending college in Oklahoma city, around 1926 -1927 Sam (Samuel or Sampson ?) Ratliff, was married and mom thought he had 2 or 3 sons. He at one time lived in Woodward and possibly Shattuck, Oklahoma. He and his wife and his mother in law lived with my grandparents in 1909, I believe that is the correct year. Joseph (JOE) Ratliff, born between 1874 to 1877, I have records verifying all kinds of dates on him. He left home at the age of 11 and lied frequently about his age. He died in 1952 . He married Elsie Rogers, who drown in 1927 leaving 4 daughters for him to raise. Andrew, died very young. Their father Joseph's wife Frances Harrell, died of something like appendix rupture, she died when Joe (above) was 8, but since we can not find his birth date, I do not know that date and can not find where she is buried yet. Joseph re-married to a woman who had been widowed and had a daughter. That Daughter may be the daughter mentioned in some papers I have. My mother knew her, but not as an Aunt, rather just a close family friend?? She was part indian, and her daughter was a play mate of my mother and her sisters. I do have more tie ins, but I am not positive of all the information I have so please correct me if you are able. I am looking for any one out there who can fill in my blanks or has originals that they are willing to let me copy. Help in any way much appreciated.
