RATLIFF / RATCLIFF / RADCLIFF FAMILY My line is as follows I descend through Joseph RATLIFF and 3rd wife, Elizabeth GIBSON, through their son Jesse Robert RATLIFF / RATCLIFF (it appears the name has changed here) Area locations are Miss> Louisiana> Texas > Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Joseph may have married again to a 4th wife Josephy or Josephine Unknown. We have located an 1880 census record for a Joseph RATLIFF in Polk County, Arkansas which fits our Joseph and his youngest son Joseph, (by first marriage) Also listed on this census is a Frank BROWN age 9 and living with the family as a boarder?? Oral family history is that Joseph wanted to remove to Texas, from Louisiana, sometime after 1870 Census. Wife Elizabeth, was afraid of the Indians and refused to go, by hiding out in the woods, with her children. Joseph Sr. left Louisiana with some of the children by 1st marriage, including Joseph Jr. Thereby leaving Elizabeth GIBSON and the children of this marriage in Louisiana.
