Hello Ratliff List, (and others interested in places named after your ancestors) Below is my inquiry of recent in case someone can assist - but this message is about something else - locating the 75 various US locations named after the 'Ratliffs', or something else w/the same name. To see for yourself, Click On the Link below (the Govt USGS gnis server), then enter Ratliff in [only] the 'Feature Name' block, then be very patient and wait, what seems like 2-3 mins but is shorter. In about 30-40 secs, about 75 Ratliff [or Ratcliff, Dare, Witherington, etc] place names will be displayed, along exact GPS location, and many other tools, including the Terra Server aerial photos, which can be zoomed in. You'll begin to contemplate whether the place was named for your ancestor, or vice-versa. Good luck!
