Surnames: Ratliff Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RGCBAEB/852.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, there is definately a connection. Your Redding and my Allen were brothers. Allen born in 1813 married Sophia Grady Feb. 27, 1834. Together they had the following children: Roxann, John, Luke, Mary, Rebecca, alfred, Martha (Mattie), Thomas, George W., Bonapart and Elizabeth. George was my grandfather. Jesse James, Sam, John Frank, Wiley, Ruby and Mamie were George's children. Mamie was my grandmother. She married Jeff Vining in 1912 and died in childbirth with my father in 1914. The only information I have on Mamie is a marriage certificate, where she married Jeff. I have no idea where she is buried. Although, my father seems to think it is in Berrien County. Of course, there is no headstone. I knew that her father was named George because that is who my dad was named for. I found George Ratliffs death certificate in Ware County and it listed his father as Allen. George was born in Hamilton County. There is some land records for Allen Ratliff in Hamilton County. I have just recently learned that Allens father was Luke Ratliff and mother was Mary Polly Cook from Chambers County, AL. Luke was born in abt: 1790. So far the only children I have found for Luke and Mary is Allen and Redding. I believe Luke's name is actually Redding Luke Ratliff, alth! ough I haven't come across any positive proof. There is also some property records for Redding Ratliff and Clarky in Hamilton county. We are cousins. Delane
