Ballard Hezekiah Ratliff (he was called Hez) and his son Walter were both coal miners. I sorta remember a mine caved in on Ballard and they thought he broke his back, but these Ratliffs were very strong and he recovered alright. They worked and lived on the Goodwill Coal Camp. That is where my mother was born.
