    3. There are two applications here I will give highlights of, (thank you Carla for these papers!) Pension Paper #24224 was for Job M. RATLIFF residing in Mills county, Texas with post office at RIDGE, Texas. it was filed on Aug. 30, 1913 and I can not read the approval date but his pension was allowed from Dec. 1, 1913. His full name is stated as Jobe Marshall RATLIFF, age of 70 years at the time of application. He was born in the State of Arkansas and had lived in Texas for 67 years with a total of those in Ridge, Texas being 26 years. Occupation was farming. and he states that he served from 1862 until the end of the war. He was in Company E. but did not remember the number of the regiment. Cavalry. His witnesses with Affidavits were: J.R. Vestal and J.P. Holcomb JR. "Adolphis" Vestal (I wonder if his initials are J. A. then?) says he was 76 years old and lived 6 miles west of Brownwood, Brown County, Texas on the north side of Thrifty Road. He met Jobe in Hempstead County, Texas in April of 1862 where they were in the same company together. J.P. "Polk" Holcomb was 72 years old at that time of interview and lived 6 miles southwest of Brownwood, between the Upper and Lower Brady Roads. He had known Jobe from the fall of 1862 where they met in the Army. After Job's death his widow reapplied on Jan. 14, 1916. She was in Mills County, with post office as Gold, hum.. reading it.. Goldthwaite? someone help??? her pension was allowed on from the date Dec. 1, 1916 She states that she was married to Jobe M. RATLIFF on the 5th day of 1863 in Bell County, Texas. That she is 72 years old at the time of the interview, born in Arkansas. And that she resided in Texas for 64 years. She resided in Mullin, Texas for 29 years of that 64. Her husband's pension number was 24224 and hers is 33645. The death of her husband was on Dec. 16, 1916 and she stated that he was enlisted for 4 years, in the Cavalry. Her witnesses with Affidavit were L.E. Patterson and F.M. Long The papers list that she S. F. (I believe this to be Susan Frances Meeks but not from these papers).. anyway.. tat she died on May 10th of 1924 in the town of Mullin, Mills county, Texas. She died in the home of her daughter.. Mrs. Margie Etheridge (if I am reading the writing correctly) and that statement was signed by J. W. RATLIFF, her son. The undertaker was J. H. Randolph & co. Of Mullin, Texas. She died of Apoplexy per Dr. R. H. Jones of Mullin, Texas.
