    3. Since I stumbled on to some leads regarding the Ratliff lines from TN to TX, I have been reading endlessly and using the Internet a lot more than usual. Two people have listed William Ratcliff b. 1830 as the son of Elijah Ratcliff. They say William was married to Elizabeth Lemon. One says Elijah's father was Reuben and one says it was Jesse. Does anyone have any documentation on a William b. 1830 son of Elijah? Or any other ideas? Our William was born (according to Collin Co. TX 1960 census) 1830 in TN and married to Lizzy b. 1837 in TN. There was a William Ratcliff married to an Elizabeth Shirley about 1860 in Collin Co. I believe this was our William; however, it might have been a second or third marriage. William enlisted in the Fitzhugh Mounted Cavalry which became a Confederate unit and he served with Page Roark, who we believe is a relative. William was killed in Jun 1863 at Milliken Bend, LA in a skirmish with the Union. He left two sons that we know of: John George and Samuel Page. They were orphaned as "Lizzy" disappeared by the next census in 1870. We are looking to see if the Shirley marriage is tied to the Belle Starr (Myra Shirley) family. They were in the same area at the same time. Anyone have any documentation which might support a solid lead? I have the descendents of the two Ratcliff boys families. I also know that the family of Joseph Ratcliff is represented in the Cook Co. TX area. John Washington Ratliff (married to Josephine Vernon) is the son of John Noah Ratliff married to Abigail Haggard. Our family had a photo of him, his wife and children, so there must have been a kinship on that branch.
