We are searching for the parents of a Joseph Ratliff b. abt. 1809 - 1815 in Tenn. or Kentucky or Mississippi (this according to which Census you look at.) According to my Mothers memory, she thought that Joseph's father was named John RATLIFF ? Any of the following sound familiar to anyone? Sarah BARRENTINE in Carroll County Mississippi 1848 Land Records - 80 acres & 13/100 of an acre in Attala County, Mississippi 1850 Census Attala County, Mississippi states birth in Mississippi ? 1860 Census DeSoto Parish, Louisiana states birth in Kentucky ? 1861 Quite probable another Marriage to Mary Johnson Aten (widow of John Aten) 1864 Abt. married Elizabeth GIBSON in Louisiana and had two more children, Jesse R. & Elizabeth 1870 Census DeSoto Parish, Louisiana 1870 Removed to Somewhere in Texas ?? 1880 Census Polk County, Arkansas - There is a Joseph Ratliff age 71, wife (Josephy / or Nancy ?? age 57 ) son Joseph age 18 b. Louisiana and Frank Brown, boarder age 9?? Joseph & Sarah Ratliff's children were: William H. Ratliff b. 1845 ; Margaret b. abt. 1847; James Pinkney b. 1850; George b. abt. 1853 - 1855; Greenberry (may be Green Berry) b. abt. 1851 - 1855; Martha b. abt. 1857; all born in Miss. and the youngest Joseph Ratliff b. 1861 in Louisiana Joseph & Mary Johnson Aten: no children of this union Joseph & Elizabeth Gibson Ratliff's children are: Jesse Robert b. 1865 Louisiana; and Mary Elizabeth b. 1868 Louisiana.
