Here I go again!! ;-) Our RATLIFF was really born, and not hatched or dropped from a space ship. We KNOW that we will find her parents someday, somehow. A distant cousin did a family sheet which showed that the father was named Ben J RATLIFF. I have not proven that at all. But we do know the names of her siblings. Is anyone out there from a RATLIFF family which settled in northern AL?? We have these RATLIFFs in Cullman Co, AL and in Birmingham, Jefferson Co, AL. Mary J RATLIFF married John Melton CANANT in Cullman Co and they moved with their children to TX in 1905. SHe had lost at least one brother in the steel mills in Birmingham and didn't want her sons to work at the steel plant. She had a brother named Adolphus RATLIFF who disappeared after travelling to the west. They never heard from him again.
