    1. Re: [RATLIFF-L] an unclaimed Richard?
    2. --WebTV-Mail-759094201-777 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Re my previous request for information about Richard and Mary Newton Ratliff who were married in 1750 in Queen Anne's County, Maryland: It has since been suggested to me that in my request was the implication that if someone else has "claimed" this couple, they cannot have been my ancestors as well. It was not my intent to give that impression. On the contrary, I am eager to learn of any documentable connection(s). I have been looking for information re this couple for about 2 years, and have seen nothing at all to connect them with other families of the period, thus my reference to this Richard as perhaps "unclaimed". --WebTV-Mail-759094201-777 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from mailsorter-101.iap.bryant.webtv.net (mailsorter-101.iap.bryant.webtv.net [207.79.35.91]) by postoffice-172.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.5/po.gso.24Feb98) with ESMTP id VAA01511; Fri, 11 Sep 1998 21:35:01 -0700 (PDT) Received: from fp-1.rootsweb.com (fp-1.rootsweb.com [207.113.233.233]) by mailsorter-101.iap.bryant.webtv.net (8.8.8/ms.graham.14Aug97) with ESMTP id VAA04600; Fri, 11 Sep 1998 21:34:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from [email protected]) by fp-1.rootsweb.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) id VAA15114; Fri, 11 Sep 1998 21:33:52 -0700 (PDT) Resent-Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 21:33:52 -0700 (PDT) From: [email protected] X-WebTV-Signature: 1 ETAsAhR6qDpHDmdbF7mQ/XaclIjd4xl3MgIUaNKBa7pC9RoUX3GArbCBQWwGdZI= Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 22:33:47 -0600 (MDT) Old-To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit MIME-Version: 1.0 (WebTV) Subject: [RATLIFF-L] an unclaimed Richard? If so, please let me know. That way, I will no longer wonder whether he was the father of my gggg grandfather (also Richard Ratliff) who died in Anson County, NC, ca1811. There are SO many Richard Rat(c)liffs in colonial America that it has been a matter of finding and eliminating one after the other in an effort to narrow the search. I have sought assistance from as many Newton sources as I can find, and none knows of any in Maryland, yet the marriage of Richard and Mary is a matter of record. Some say her father was a John Newton. Some also say that Richard and Mary had a son in 1751 whom they named Richard. A son so named and born ca1751 could well have been the same man who was my gggggrandfather. ==== RATLIFF Mailing List ==== Problems with Unsubscribing?
