A Richard Ratliff appeared in Alabama in the 1790s. He said he was from N.C. He later aided Andrew Jackson in 1813 while Jackson was on his way to Horse Shoe Bend to fight the Creek Indians. He was married to an Indian lady and followed her on "The Trail of Tears" to Oklahoma about 1835. A number of Indian Ratliffs settled there. Is this gentleman related to your Richards?
