ABANDONED BABY IS FOUND AT VERNONVernon, Tex., Sept. 7. - An abandoned baby boy was found crying about 1 o'clock Tuesday morning on the iron base of the door into a sample-room of Hotel Vernon, by Chas. Ratliff and others. Mr. Ratliff said after he met the night train he went to Hotel Vernon and hearing a baby crying, remarked that he didn't see how people could sleep as a baby was crying lustily. The night clerk said no one with a baby was stopping there, an investigation disclosed a baby on the outside of the hotel. The little fellow's head was resting on a pillow, which was marked "A. C. L."A cheap grip filled with ordinary clothing was sitting beside the baby. The grip was marked on several times with the figures "23".Mr. Ratliff took the foundling home with him and he and his wife will give it a home and adopt it. The child is about ! a week old and has black hair. How the little fellow got there is a mystery. A woman coming in on the night Denver train might have left it there or some one might have drove up in an automobile and deposited the child on the door step. An investigation of the affair is being made. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New DSL Internet Access from SBC & Yahoo!
