I am searching for a James Ratliff who married Elizabeth Hagar (date unknown) who had children in the Tazwell, VA area. Their children includes Nancy, Sally, William or Willard, and Walter. My grandmother is Nancy Ratliff Hall who married John Washington Hall. I do not know when she was born, but my grandfather was born in 1880. Any info would be appreciated.
Is there anyone who has traced the Ratliff family that lived in Richmond, Virginia in 1850. The James listed as one year old holds my interest. Please notify by this address if you have information. hmwh@aol.com

She lists a daughter named Mary A. Ratliff. If any marriage records were recorded for Mary A. I would love to know about them. Mary was 10 years old in 1850. The other people listed on that census record were: Margaret age 5, and James age 2. Hi Wes, Good job! Here's the US Military site for MOH winners, listing Edward Rat(c)liff Awarded 29 September 1864 http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/mohb.htm U.S. Army Center of Military History Full-text Listings of Medal of Honor Citations (see below) If you find anything, sure would love to hear about it. Perhaps we could do something for his grave. Barry Wetherington, Gs/o Ethel Ella (Ratliff) Wetherington --------------------------------- The President, in the name of Congress, has awarded more than 3,400 Medals of Honor to our nation's bravest Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen since the decoration's creation in 1861. For years, the citations highlighting these acts of bravery and heroism resided in dusty archives and only sporadically were printed. In 1973, the U.S. Senate ordered the citations compiled and printed as Committee on Veterans' Affairs, U.S. Senate, Medal of Honor Recipients: 1863-1973 (Washington, D.C.: Government Printing Office, 1973). This book was later updated and reprinted in 1979. The breakdown of these is a duplicate of that in the congressional compilation. Likewise, some minor misspelling and other errors are duplicated from the official government volume. These likely were the result of the original transcriptions. We are still trying to verify that this James was a brother to my grandfather. He may have been married to a Dora Young, Bessie McCoy and and unknown McClanahan. He could have had children: John, Emily, Ida Lou, and Harold/William Ratliff. Most of our family descendants didn't know James Franklin Ratliff existed. He was b 1887 in Morgan Co., KY and maybe m the first two wifes in Morgan/Menifee Co., KY His parents would be John William Ratliff and Lou Ellen Back from Morgan Co., KY Thanks for any help. I slightly remeber meeting Hoovers sons over the years, one was named Lonnie(lives in ky) and the other was Lee(who lived in wadsworth ohio at the time of my grandmothers death) Did you know my grandmother Ella? I'm sure you have more questions of me as well. I'll tell you what I know cousin. Thanks, Gail
