Hi Lists w/which I'm associated. For those possibly interestred, there have been some indications of family associations w/ US presidents, primarily Zachary Taylor, but also w/A Lincoln, and at some point, there was what I feel was an unsuccessful attempt to link w/G Wash (remembering that he had no children of his own, but Martha had offspring and Geo was close to them and to his Siblings). There are some methods suggested to follow up if you wish, and all are encouraged to sub to Dick Eastmans free Gen newsletter (see below), from which this, and many other interesting items we have featured in the past, came. Barry Some surnames found in Taylor's family tree Allerton Bayly Hancock Lee Strother Thompson Thornton Willoughby N B. These ancestor tables do not contain the last two generations, except for George Washington's, Andrew Jackson's, James Polk's, and James Buchanan's which are complete. You can now see all the identified ancestors of these forty-three men. You may find some of your own ancestors in these lists as well. If you spend some time looking at these ancestors, you will note many duplicates. It seems that many of the presidents were also related to each other. The U.S. Presidential Ancestor Tables are based upon Gary Boyd Roberts' scholarly work, Ancestors of American Presidents. It is believed that Roberts' lists are much more accurate than some of the other published lists. You can see Roberts' U.S. Presidential Ancestor Tables at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/presidents Note that these lists use the ahnentafel numbering system. Ahnentafel is the German word for "ancestor table." It is simply a list of one's ancestors, written in a specific format. Ahnentafels list a number in front of each person's name. The ahnentafel format states that the number associated with an individual's father is twice that of the individual's number, and that an individual's mother is twice that individual's number plus one. For example, when looking at your own ahnentafel, you are person number one, your father's ahnentafel number is 2, your mother's is 3, your paternal grandfather's number is 4, your paternal grandmother's number is five, your maternal grandfather's number is 6, and so on. . . . . I have checked my census data and can't find any Ratliffs from Chambers Co. starting in 1820. Also no Luke Ratliff. My line arrived in Ala. about 1817. Dean
Where is your Benjamin Ratliff from? What year? I have a Benjamin Ratliff in my data base. He was the son of Allen & Sophia Ratliff. Benjamin was married to Eliza Ford in Hamilton County, FL. Hope this helps.
