I'm looking for a man by the last name of Ratliff (or soundex) that was living in Mississippi (possibly Amite Co.) around 1911. This would be the father of my paternal grandmother Lilia Louise. She was raised by her mother Mary Smith (daughter of William) and her step - father Marshall Rice. I have been told two different stories by elderly aunts. That the real father ran off when my grandmother was 3 (about 1914); and that he was struck by lighting and killed when she was 3. Any clues?

This sheet I just received is from a different source, no complier's name, but the ones you sent may very well give me a place to start searching for the Bible. Thanks. Kelly

    2. Kelly I sent you a bunch of Ratliff (and various spellings) family group sheets last year. They came from Yates publishing co. The one of Jesse Bean (from Llano Co, Tx) had the compilers name on them. Sam Ratliff and another name. That may be a lead. I think it gave Sam's address. Good Luck, Kelly Culpepper

    3. I have recently seen a copy of a family group sheet that provided Jesse's wife's name, and his children's full names and dates. The notation on the sheet said "Taken from Jesse's Bible in his own hand" The sheet was preserved by an Aunt of another person, that Aunt now deceased and no one knows where the original may have come from. OR more importantly who might know where the BIBLE is. I would appreciate any assistance in locating the owner of Jesse's Bible. Thank you Kelly kelleen2@icehouse.net

    1. [RATLIFF] RATLIFF with ARRINGTONs in lines
    2. Kelly Sullivan
    3. I recently purchased a history book where in my great Uncle is mentioned, him being Frank BIGGERS who was the second husband of my great Aunt, Mary RATLIFF. Mary had been married first to George HOWARD. She was the daughter of Joseph and Francis HARRELL RATLIFF. The point of this query is that in the two page spread on Frank the surname ARRINGTON was mentioned and I am sure at some point I had heard that name in association with the RATLIFF surname... so am wondering if anyone has ARRINGTONs in their RATLIFF trees? "Cap" ARRINGTON is the name specifically mentioned in the Article on Frank. Also it is associated with Lipscomb County, Texas and the ranches 7 K and Box T. Thank you. Kelly kelleen2@icehouse.net

    2. All of the Ratliff-Francisco information back to the 1600's is recorded in "My Ratliff Family" written by Ralph Ratliff of Bluefield, W.Va. The price when I got mine was $22.00 plus $2.00 shipping I found him by phone in information. Don't know if he is still living . He was elderly then (1995) A lovely fellow to talk to book well researched and documented. He has a son living in Bluefield but I can't remember his name. My grandmother 's mother was a Francisco who married a Ratliff. This book answered just about every question I had as to these 2 families. There are also 3 Ratliff - Francisco cemeetaries on Elkorn Creek in Pike County that I am aware of. They were well preserved as of 1998. Hope this helps. Paulette Cooper Gilliland
