Hi everyone, I am new to this group, and joined because I'd like to prove or disprove that an Isabel (Radliffe?) married a James Haworth way back in 1666 in Rockcliffe, Lancashire, England. Isabel was born in 1646 in Rochdale, Lancashire, and was buried 1707 in Marsden, Friend's Burial Ground. Is anyone working on this? I would love to hear from you... Thanks, Kathy Haworth-Merris Mills

Fellow KY Researchers & Kin, If you're not willing to share copies of your documents, then delete now! I am hoping some of you cousins & researchers who have copies of birth, death, and marriage records are willing to share with someone who is relatively new at genealogy research. I need copies of documents to verify each line in my tree, but don't want to pay the high costs of certified copies from the State Dept. Xerox copies from microfilm, ledger book entries, etc will be just fine for me. Besides, if you have any of these documents then we're probably related and I AM VERY WILLING TO SHARE WHAT I HAVE. Does anyone know what the parentheses around the state's initials mean on a federal census form? In the 1880 Scioto County, Ohio census, for example, my gg grandfather John A. Custer was listed as being born in W.Va. in 1845 (actually Va. at that date, I know) and both his parents are listed as W.Va., but in parentheses. Did this mean the person giving the information didn't know for certain? I'm pretty certain his parents were born in Maryland, anyway, and some other records agree with that. Just wondered what the parentheses meant. Any ideas? -- Regards, Michael A. Radcliff [email protected]
Can someone tell me how to get old archived posts from the Ratliff list? I think I did something stupid and deleted the instructions for the mail list! -- Regards, Michael A. Radcliff [email protected]

My g grandfather, Cornelius Ratliff (or Ratcliff), is listed in the 1910 Mingo County, W.Va. federal census as being a 59 year old coal miner, living in the Lee Magisterial District, part of Buffalo Precinct. His wife's name was "Susie", age 24. He had two daughters Carrie, 6, and Gladys, 11 months, and a son named Garland (my grandfather), 3. I am in desperate need of info about this man. What part of Mingo County was Lee Magisterial District in in 1910? What coal mine(s) might he have worked in? When did he leave the area? (He is in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1920.) Any help on this would be appreciated! I have more info (some) if anyone is interested. Thanks. -- Regards, Michael A. Radcliff [email protected]
