Folks..... Please do NOT send things this nature to ANY Rootsweb lists. It is a chain letter, and if everyone in turn sent it to another list, it would CRASH the Rootsweb servers. That is the main reason. Another reason in this instance, is that poetry has no place on a Surname List. There are other forums that allow it. I love poetry myself, and write it also, but do not feel that it has a place on a surname list. Read the list tags, folks. One of them deals with the issue of chain letters..... Hello everyone.... Just so you know, and aren't caught off guard, I have changed the direction of the posts to go to the list, rather than the individual. It is a personal preference and I'd like to see if it helps. If anyone has a question or comment regarding this, please contact me privately rather than thru the list. Thanks... Greetings Everyone! I have received word, that I have been named new list owner for the Ratliff List. I have formulated a welcome letter tailored to my desires, which I will be sending within the next few days. I hope this transition can be done as seamless as possible. If you have any questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact me. For the present, I plan to leave things as they are, but will be evaluating and making changes as I see fit according to my own preferences. I am excited about this new endeavor, and hope that we can find a common grounds to keep this list running as smoothly as we can. It does take the efforts of both the list owner AND the subscribers. I hope that you feel the same way. Thanks to all..... Mari Modlin Ratliff List Owner mailto:[email protected]

Seeking any info on the family of Boyd RATLIFF who died in 1930 at age 24 (in Harlan, KY) and is buried in Catlettsburg, Boyd Co, KY next to his mother, Mary Jane DIXON. Mary Jane DIXON (b.1888-1889; d.1960) is reported to have had children by at least 3 different men (surnames RATLIFF, CORNETTE, and CAUDILL). No marriage records have been found. Mary Jane DIXON reportedly had only one full sibling: Sarah CAUDILL. She also had at least one half-sister: Molly (surname unknown).
