    1. Re: [RATLIFF] Simpson RATLIFF
    2. Hi, Kelly, Do you know where in MS these court records were? John S. Ratliff was my ggg grandfather. His mother was Mary Polly Stovall. I do not have anything on a Simpson Ratliff, but wonder if maybe he fits on one of my branches. Do you have any other information? Linda

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGCBAEB/682.1.1.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Wayne: I was so certain that I had some documentation concerning Alexander Ratliff's two daughters, Elizabeth and America, but I have searched carefully through my files and some microfilm (probate of Macon County MO 1838-1872) and have not found anything concrete. A fellow researcher, Victor Williams, sent me the following concerning Elizabeth's son, Elvin Bunch estate: "John M. Bunch was appointed curator on Nov. 10, 1901. He stated that on Feb 3, 1892, Elvin received of the estate of Alex. Ratliff, the grandfather of said ward, his share which was $122. John also states that on Aug 14, 1896 that his ward was dead and the estate is settled." It is my guess that possibly Alexander died sometime after Elvin's birth in 1874 and Feb 3, 1892, even though Elizabeth and America were living with other family members in the 1850 census which led us to believe that Alexander died around 1850. We will keep out eyes open for any further information. rcsnider@nemr.net Carol

It was just part of somethings she sent me, and was only marked Mississippi Court records, etc. I have nothing more on him or his family, As far as I know YET, my line is not related to him. But I gather RATLIFF information just because I am interested in ALL the RATLIFFs. It is the first time I have seen the name Simpson RATLIFF. Kelly

    2. A Richard Ratliff appeared in Alabama in the 1790s. He said he was from N.C. He later aided Andrew Jackson in 1813 while Jackson was on his way to Horse Shoe Bend to fight the Creek Indians. He was married to an Indian lady and followed her on "The Trail of Tears" to Oklahoma about 1835. A number of Indian Ratliffs settled there. Is this gentleman related to your Richards?

    2. Kelleen, Last Sunday I made a purchase that I am still having such a good time going through! I ordered from genealogy.com a CD which contains the six volumes of Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Normally this CD is $59.95.......it was on sale for $29.95! I don't know if it is still on sale, or if they even have any more, but thought you might want to check. And, yes, there are a good many Ratliffs in there. 2. Madeline! I have the Ratliff line you are referring to... John Moore and Mary Ratliff married December 10, 1729. Mary is the daughter of Richard Ratliff and Damaris Nixon. Mary was born May 22, 1710 in Perquimans Co, NC. John and Mary had 6 children. ( I'm related through the Ratliff line) John was born October 21, 1702 and is the son of William Moore and Elizabeth MacBride...sorry no more info on John. Joseph Ratliff and Rebecca Lamb were married 1808 in Surry Co, NC. Joseph is the son of Richard Ratliff and Elizabeth "Betty" Pearson. Rebecca is the daughter of Jacob Lamb and Sarah (?). All of my info came from the books on American Quaker Genealogy. These books are edited by Willard Heiss and contain records of all monthly meetings of the Quakers. They are an excellent source of information !They have volumns on North Carolina and Indiana as well as other states. The Ratliff line mainly traveled through these 2 states. -Cindy
