Of course, I did not mean to be confusing. 1. OUR SAMUEL HOUSTON RANSOM was too young to be in the TEXAS war for Independence. BUT people in Tennessee were very much sympathetic to that war and sent so many soldiers to the war that they were lauded as the TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS. 2. OUR SAM HOUSTON RANSOM was named for another TENNESSEAN who became a TEXAN as we all know !! Carole
