There seem to be so many Ransoms in the States, but does anyone know any Ransoms in England? My grandfather was Frederic James RANSOM, born in London in 1865 to Frederic James RANSOM and Elizabeth Mary TOMLIN. Frederic James Senior was the son of Robert RANSOM, a plumber. In 1881 my grandfather with his brother and sister and widowed mother came to Australia. I do not know any of his siblings. Hoping to hear something about the English Ransoms, from Sybil in Sydney, Australia

I'm trying to verify a cousin married a Louie RANSON / RANSOM, and was in Cass Co. MN. This is all I know so far. It's undocumented though. Josie Wickenberg b. a1883, m. (1) Louie Ramsum, m. (2) Mr. Modine. About 1910 Josie married Louie Ramsum and decided to pioneer near Federal Dam, MN. They chose a beautiful place on Sugar Point on Leech Lake, about 6 miles South of Federal Dam. Louie came down with pneumonia and died about 1922. He is buried in an unmarked grave at the Federal Dam cemetery. Josie took her children and went back to Canada, where she later remarried. I think she married a Mr. Modine. Anyone ever hear if them? Thanks very much, Greg

To All Ransom Researchers: The Matthew Ransom family moved from Ct. and settled in Vt. in 1781/82. There they lived, farmed, started businesses and raised their families. Other Ransom/Ransone families stayed in Ct. and other states and spread out all over this beautiful land of ours. After receiving numerous inquiries about a Ransom Family Reunion being held in the Woodstock, Vt. area and careful consideration, I have decided to do a little poling to find out what, if any, interest exists. Phebe died 23 Jan 1875 in Canton, Lewis Missouri. Willard was living with his daughter in MO in the 1880 census. Children: 1) Augustus M., born Jul 1840, in Chauauqu Co, NY, md Balsora "Ballie" ?? about 1864 in MO. three children: Addie, William and Augustus. lived in MO. 2) Lewis L. G., born Jul 1840, in Chauauqu Co, NY 3) Frank D., born Sep 1850 in Beaver, Pennsylvania, md Nannie May ??? about 1875. Four children: Elizabeth, Jennie, Peachie and Galen.
