hello, I am looking for information on Charlotte Ransom, b. abt 1820+-5 years of Geneva, Ontario, New York. She married first to Charles M. Hollister, second to Johnathan Hudson. I know very little about Charlotte and Johnathan, but have some descendancy I can share. I'm also interested in Charles daughter Clara Hollister. she's part of the family, too. thank you for any help Cornelia
I have posted my information previously to this list and have just today found out that the father of my George Edward Ransom is not Elvin Ransom as I previously post, but is William Mills Ransom b. TN. This is what I now have: William Mills Ransom b. ca 1837 TN (father & mother both b. TN) m. Allice VANCE b. ca. 1839 TN (father & mother both b. TN) - she had brothers named Acy & William children: Fount RANSOM b. ca 1859 TN William RANSOM b. ca 1872 MS George RANSOM b. ca 1874 MS Jasper N. RANSOM b. ca 1876 MS Mary P. RANSOM b. ca 1878 MS There are supposed to be three other children in this family according to family information - Asa RANSOM b. ca 1876 (found in Monroe Co. MS 1910 soundex), Manor RANSOM b. unknown, and James, who is supposed to be a twin of Jasper N. RANSOM b. ca 1876 above. I found the above family in Monroe Co. MS 1880 census, but did not find these "extra" children" with them, so that is still a puzzle. I am hoping that now that I have "better" information that someone might recognize some of this family and make a connection. I am descended from George Edward RANSOM b. ca 1874 MS - he was my great-grandfather, and my mother was a RANSOM. Thank you in advance. Allison Massengill Saxman
This line is well-covered in Harry Blaine RANSOM's work, RANSOM Genealogy (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mransom/books.html#hbr) and in Albert RANSOM's work (same page as above, #ar or scroll down a few lines). Andrew Glenn RANSOM apparently married twice, first to Jennie WOOD in 1862 in Erie Co OR (marriage index, LDS film #0954124), and later, about 1871/2, to Clara Van DORN, probably around Columbus KS. They had seven children 1873 - 1888. AGR is son of Russell Mitchell RANSOM b1811 Bolton CT, d 1882 OH. Andrew had at least six siblings; their marriages are recorded on the above microfilm, and a few deaths are listed on LDS film #862021, Cemetery Inscriptions of Huron/Erie Co OH. The line is Andrew^7, Russell^6^5, Joseph^4, Stephen^3, Joseph^2, Matthew^1. Stephen R MOSIER mailto:mosier@uncc.edu queried about this line in RANSOM RESEARCHER #22 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mransom/contents#1998 on page 533. Barbara, another thought: she wasn't required to have a passport, but may have done so anyway, considering her travels around the world. If she did, it may have some clues about spouse, parents, birth place. The old apps are microfilmed and available through Family History Centers. I am looking for info on a Louise L. Ransom, a Quaker by birth, who was received into the Church of Truth, 5th Ave, NYC by Dr. Grier on 6/9/26. I have a very unusual photo album dedicated to Dr. Grier and put together by Mrs. Ransom, who lived from the mid-late 1800's to at least the 1930's and was widowed in 1909. The album is of Mrs. Ransom's travels around the world and in addition to post cards and photgraphs, contains many written passages by her. It consists of >100 post cards and photographs (?stereoptician views) of her in each area's garb and multiple inscriptions. The only other info from the album that I can give you is: > A 7 page poetic entry about her learning to ride a bicycle, with "Clifton Springs Sanitarium, NY 1916" written on top. > A 4 page poetic note to Dr. Grier, dated June 6, 1926 and which mentions her being a Quaker and being received into the Church of Truth, NYC on 6-9-26. > Stationery from "Hotel Bretton Hall, NYC" dated '1926-1936' on top with a poetic entry about a sweetheart. > An announcement stating that on 5/21/33, at the Church of Truth, Suite 1129, 521 Fifth Avenue, NYC, Louise was giving a "talk illustrated with 75 splendid stereoptican views" of the Oberammergau Passion Play and "will wear the costume, which is worn at Oberammergau.
