James Ransom and Nancy Randolph are my third great grandparents through their daughter Permelia. Have you been able to clarify anything on their ancestry since your message was first posted. There still seems to be a lot of conflicting information. I have found an excellent source on James Ransom at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/r/a/s/Stephen-C-Rasnsom/index.html with some on Nancy but does little to clear up her ancestry. I came across a James Ransom in my Schell research (mainly in Hancock and Putnam Counties). He would have lived in the early and mid 1800's. But I do not have a name for this James' wife. My records show this James Ranson had at least two sons, Alex and Joe. Alex married Rebecca Elizabeth Schell. Rebecca is a distant relative of my wife. Do you think we have the same Ransom?
