Joseph Randolph b 1807 d 8 Jan 1892 bur Rahway Public Cemetery, Rahway NJ wife Sarah Ann Clarkson b9 sep 1810 d 14 may 1862 bur Rahway Public Cemetery, Rahway NJ His father was James FitzRandolph b 24 Dec 1768 Piscataway NJ d meteschen NJ 22 Dec 1856 wife Keziah Kelley b 7 mar 1777 d 22 Dec 1856 Metuchen NJ This line comes from Edward Fitz rAndolph who arrived in Mass 1830. Your line may well be Fitz Randolph from Mass rather than Randolph from VA. Joseph Randolph was born FitzRandolph but later dropped the Fitz and d. RAndolph. This Fitz Randolph line is published in NEHGS 1960 series and also "The Descendants of Edward Fitz Randolph & elizabeth Blossom 1630-1950" by Louise A Christin & Howard S Fitz Randolph. Many Fitz RAndolphs dropped the Fitz after a few generrations to become RAndolphs. I looked up Fitz in the dictionary and it means 'son of' originally was applied to the illegitimate sons of royalty.
