    1. E-mail fees
    2. Hello Everyone on the List, I know that this is off topic but I thought this would be of interest to everyone of us who do genealogy, and who have found new family members through the different lists, etc. A Federal Bill 602P-5 has been introduced which will permit the government to CHARGE a 5 cent fee on all delivered E-mail. Under this legislation, the US Postal Service will be attempting to bill E-mail users out of "alternative postage fees". The post office does not have anything to do with E-mail but it sure seems as if they do want to. If I understand this correctly-the 5 cents would be charged for the Internet Service Providers and they inn turn would charge us the users/ receivers. SOMEONE has figured up that would cost us 50 cents a day and would amount to $180 a year. This is in addition to our regular Server costs. I for one would have to drop all my lists and would not e-mail anyone. The only way we can stop this is to contact our congressmen/women and let them know our feelings on this. Pat of NYS
