    1. Re: [RAMEY-L] White Plains
    2. The surname of Jacob Remy's wife is unknown. The name Miles arises from another error in the Remy book, and most likely came from the author's (B. W. Rhamy) misreading of the will of Miles Marmaduke. Marmaduke named Jacob Remy as a trustee in his will; he was not named as a son-in-law. Marmaduke named only one child in his will, a son. Spencer mentions Jacob Remy in his will, but only in the context of saying he bought land from him. Spencer does not mention a daughter with the surname Remy in his will which was probated in 1700. Spencer died in 1689, i.e., well after the marriage of Jacob and Mary Remy. All that is known about the name of Jacob Remy's wife is that it was Mary, and this is from his will. I also doubt if Jacob was married prior to marrying Mary. The Remy book (page 45) says that the Fra. Rame who was a headright of John Drayton was Frances, and that she was Jacob's first wife. But Rhamy does not offer any proof of this!!! In fact, Fra. is probably a Francis. Rick Ramey
